Description
A Whole Fish Cake
The eleventh expansion of the One Piece Card Game, released in Japan and the Western world with the title of A Fist of Divine Speed, is mostly based on two narrative arcs from the manga and anime, the Fish-Man Island arc and the Whole Cake Island arc. They are both located in the second half of the series, known as the New World Saga. The first of these two has the Straw Hat Pirates visit the titular Fish-Man Island, where they get involved in various local disputes between humans and fish folk. One of the most notable and popular characters from this arc is the giant mermaid Shirahoshi, the only daughter of King Neptune and the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, which includes Fish-Man Island itself. A Fist of Divine Speed gives the imposing yet endearing Shirahoshi (OP11-022) her very first leader card, in two versions, regular and alternate art. Along with her equally huge pet shark Megalo, she becomes a trusty ally of the Straw Hats during the story. The set also includes a reprint with exclusive artwork of the Shirahoshi (EB01-057) character card that had already appeared in Memorial Collection.
Sweets and Swords
Switching from fish to dessert, the Whole Cake Island arc sees the Straw Hats go to the rescue of their cook Sanji, who gets a new character card for the occasion. As the estranged heir of the Vinsmoke family, Sanji is forced into an arranged marriage with Charlotte Pudding, in order to cement an alliance between the Vinsmokes and the Charlottes. Always the loyal follower of Big Mom's plans, Charlotte Katakuri acts as one of the antagonists for this storyline, a role reflected by his new leader card.
Looking at the other new leaders, one would be remiss not to mention the series protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, who also shows up in a new character form as the set's manga rare. A character not actually involved in the two story arcs the set primarily touches upon is Koby (OP11-001), a Marine captain who is amongst Luffy's oldest friends. His leader card is one of those that feature the new trait SWORD, alluding to the special force Koby is a part of and that was never referenced in the game before. Other members of SWORD who have their debut in A Fist of Divine Speed include the sniper Hibari and the whip-wielding Kujyaku. Koby (OP11-119) himself also appears in character form.
